How much does pest control cost?
The pest control service cost in Sydney varies depending on the treatment required and the infestation levels. You might also need an ongoing maintenance plan. We can give you a good idea of costs if you fill out our quote form, giving as much detail as possible on what you see.
-
Why should I hire a professional pest control company?
Professionals know all the hiding places pests use to enter and around your home. We can treat those, using pesticides only available by licensed pest management technicians, and make sure that the job is done properly, the first time, every time.
-
What different types of pests do we control?
We provide solutions for a variety of pests including ants, bed bugs, bees, cockroaches, German cockroaches, fleas, flies, rodents including rats and mice, possums, silverfish, spiders, termites, carpet beetles, pantry moths, ticks, fruit flies, wasps, birds, bird lice, European wasps and mosquitos.
-
How do I prepare for your arrival?
Maximum coverage is ideal to effectively treat inside your property. So, it is advised that you move loose items by at least 30 centimetres from walls, tables, beds and other big furniture. Treatment will include areas within skirting boards and around big furniture. There is no need to cover sensitive areas as no airborne chemicals will be used indoors. Outside your premises, make sure to put away children's toys, pet toys, pet feeding bowls, clothes and other loose items.
-
Will I need to vacate my premises while you spray?
All the chemicals we use are safe and approved by APVMA for use in environments like houses, hospitals and public places. We always follow the label directions. However, as a precaution, we advise you to avoid direct body contact with the wet-treated areas while staying at home. We also recommend that people with asthma or allergies, pregnant women, babies or children should stay away from the treatment for 4 hours until the spray is completely dried and ventilated. You must let the Pest In The West team know who will be present to give you the correct advice.
-
Is your treatment safe for my children?
Yes, your children are safe with our treatment. As a precautionary measure, it is ideal to keep them away from the treatment area for at least two hours. We also ask that you put away their toys and other loose items they use. As a safety policy, we do not treat play equipment with residual pest control products. We only use non-residual aerosol for these areas.
-
Is your treatment safe for my pets?
After treatment, your premises (inside and outside) are safe for pets. As soon as our treatment dries, your pets are free to roam your yard. However, during treatment, we ask that you put away pet toys, bowls and other items they use. For our part, we will make sure that any bowl left lying around is turned over. During treatment, please keep your pets away from treatment areas for at least two hours.
-
What is covered in General pest control?
General pest control covers cockroaches, silverfish, spiders and ants. If during inspection, we find a heavy infestation of German cockroaches, we will notify you as sometimes a follow-up treatment is required after 4-6 weeks. This may cost you extra.
-
What types of treatments are used?
We have different treatments, for general pest control, we will use a safe liquid spray, gels, pest baits and dust. For termite treatments, we have chemical barriers, a baiting system and Termite dusting. Depending on what needs to be done, then we will determine which method works best.
-
Do I need to clean up my property after treatment?
For our treatment to be fully effective, it is ideal that you do not mop floors for at least 48 hours from treatment. Don’t worry; the treatment we use inside the premises is safe and fully dries fast. Treatment for your outdoor areas needs to dry out naturally first before you let out your pets and children.
-
What happens if it rains the day of my treatment?
If it’s raining or looks like it will rain at the time of your appointment, we will contact you and arrange another suitable date to complete the service for you. The reason for this is the chemicals can runoff into stormwater drains. This is not a good environmental practice. The other reason is that we need a dry surface to apply the pesticide effectively.
-
Will I still see pests after you've sprayed?
It is possible that insects such as ants, spiders or cockroaches may venture inside your property after the treatment has been completed. However, there is a very high likelihood that they will have crossed treated areas and will die very soon afterwards.
-
What areas do you treat?
As a general rule, we treat all internal and external areas of your property that have been identified as a pest hotspot. This includes sections within and outside your infrastructure, such as letterboxes, gardens, windows, driveways, pathways, gutter systems, sheds, roof voids, fences, storage areas and more. However, we limit treatment application to sensitive areas, such as herb and fruit gardens, fish ponds and tanks, and the like.
-
How often should I have my house sprayed?
We recommend that you have your home treated for ants and spiders every 12 months to ensure complete protection.
-
How often should I have my house inspected for Termites?
We strongly recommend inspecting your home for termites every 12 months or 6 months for high-risk areas. You want to detect termites early if they are at your property, the earlier the detection the less damage that can be caused to your property.
-
My neighbour is infested, should I be worried?
Any pest infestation should cause concern. Unfortunately, you can’t force your neighbour to get pest control services carried out. The best approach is to have your property treated to reduce the chances of pests entering your property and limit pest activity.
-
Does the pesticide affect plants?
No! We use genuine registered pesticides that are applied correctly and are environmentally safe for your garden.
